Private equity firm Actis has announced an investment of $50 million in BPO firm Integreon for what it said was a substantial minority stake in the company. As part of the investment, two Actis representatives, J M Trivedi, Actis’ head of South Asia, and Gautham Radhakrishnan, director at Actis, will join the Integreon board.

Integreon is a specialised BPO player providing legal process outsourcing (LPO) and knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) services.

“It is one of the leading players in the niche segment of LPO and KPO services. This sector is still at a nascent stage and therefore, compared to more mature BPO services, the growth rates and opportunity to build value is higher,” said JM Trivedi, Head of South Asia, Actis.

Following the Actis investment, the holding of the Philippines-based Ayala Corporation, will come down from around 80% to around 50%. Actis will hold around 30% and employees will hold the rest. However, there was no official confirmation from Integreon on the stakeholding. “This investment by Actis will help Integreon maintain its aggressive growth by making capital available for investment in the existing business as well as for new acquisitions,” said Lokendra Tomar, COO, Asia Pacific, Integreon. The BPO firm has made six acquisitions so far, the last one being that of Grail Research, the captive research unit of the Monitor group. Integreon’s revenues have grown to an $89 million revenue run rate in Q4 2009, according to a statement by the company. Actis is focussed on emerging market investments across consumer, business support systems, industrials and financial services sectors. It currently has $ 4.8 billion funds under management.
