The Supreme Court directed all states to implement child welfare laws to check the trafficking of children, particularly girls.

A bench headed by Justice Dalveer Bhandari also told the Union Government as well as well as State Governments to constitute children welfare boards so that the welfare of children is properly looked after.

The apex court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) The court told the authorities to ensure that the welfare of children which includes proper education, food and clothing is taken care of.
