With the recording of statement of another witness in the eight-year-old fake passport case of underworld don Abu Salem in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) here today, altogether testimonies of eight witnesses were recorded during the hearing that went on for the last three days.
The CJM Mohan Prakash Tiwari fixed the next hearing of the case on July 6. Five witnesses would be present during the hearing.
This has been the first occasion when the hearing was held for the three days in this case. Besides today, the hearing was held on June 22 and 23.
During the hearing today, Syed Aamir alias Nazmi said he went to Dubai but did not meet Salem.
District public prosecutor Kedar Singh Kansana and counsel P C Bedi were presented in the court on behalf of the prosecutor and Salem respectively.
Salem would be sent back to Mumbaiâ€™s Aurther Road Jail amid tight security arrangement tomorrow.
Earlier, the court framed charges against Salem on June 16 in the fake passport case. Extradition treaty between India and Portugal was followed while charges were framed, the sources said.
