NATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL PRICING AUTHORITY (NPPA) REVISES THE RATES OF THREE BULK DRUGS

Drug price regulator the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised the rates of three bulk drugs, including chloroquine phosphate that is used in treatment of malaria. The regulator has reduced the price of chloroquine phosphate from Rs 871 to Rs 861 per kg and the price of chloroquine sulphate to Rs 1,230 per kg from Rs 1,244 per kg, according to a NPPA notification. However, the regulator has increased the price of famotidine to Rs 1,218 per kg from Rs 1,042 per kg, the notification said. This revised price shall be made effective within 15 days from the date of this order as required under Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995, the regulator said in a notification.
