Bharti acquired 9% stake in Qualcomm’s India broadband venture for $165-M

Telecom services firm Bharti Airtel Ltd. has acquired a 49% stake in Qualcomm Asia Pacific’s (Qualcomm AP) Indian Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) entities for $165 million. The Qualcomm entities hold BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala. Bharti will acquire the stake partly by way of acquisition of a 26% interest equally held by Global Holding Corporation and Tulip Telecom Ltd., and the balance by way of subscription of fresh equity in those entities.
