Information technology stocks bore the brunt of sinking markets,
falling by over 5% on the Bombay Stock Exchange. It index slipped 5.43%
to settle at 2,780.19 points, after it touched the day’s low of
2,753.53 on BSE. Reflecting the fall in IT index, TCS fell 8.46% to
close at Rs 542.05. The scrip had touched an intra-day low of Rs 535,
down 9.65% and over 3.10 lakh shares changed hands on BSE. Infosys
plunged by around 5% to settle at Rs 1,331.25. It had touched an
intra-day low of Rs 1,309.50 during the day’s trade. Satyam Computer
Services closed the day at Rs 272.35, down 5.76%. The scrip touched an
intra-day low of Rs 266.75 and over 5.60 lakh shares got traded on BSE.
Further, scrip of Wipro touched a day’s low of Rs 271.50 before
settling 5.14% down at Rs 276.90 on BSE.
