The Centre has approved over Rs 21,000 crore this fiscal for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). The revised funding pattern for the programme during the 11th Plan would provide greater financial flexibility to the states and union territories in the implementation of the SSA, an official release said. The new pattern, effective from April this year, would be in the ratio of 65:35 for the first two years of the XIth Plan — 2007-08 and 2008-09, 60:40 for 2009-10, 55:45 for 2010-11 and 50:50 from 2011-12 onwards.
