CNN-IBN CLAIM ANOTHER WITNESS TO TYTLER INVOLVEMENT IN '84 RIOTS

Close on the heels of a local court ordering re-investigation into the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case involving former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler, a CNN-IBN investigation claims to have revealed another alleged eye witness to the case.

The report, to be aired later tonight, claims to reveal that a person Surinder Singh allegedly saw Jagdish Tytler lead a mob which killed three Sikhs on November 1, 1984.

"While Jasbir Singh only heard Tytler inciting the mob to kill, Surinder Singh, hiding on the fourth floor of Gurudwara Pulbangash, actually saw the macabre killings,"the report said.

"I saw three killings by a mob led by Jagdish Tytler,"the report quotes Surinder as saying.

"He was standing near the Masjid and cheering the mob..'Kill them! They have killed our mother,"Surinder told the channel.

Surinder is said to have claimed that days after the killing, Mr. Tytler approached him and kept pressurising him to sign two sheets of blank paper.

"I told the police that my life could be under threat.. But they paid no attention,"Surinder said.

"Surinder says he still continued to be under threat from Tytler,"the report said.

Infact, the report claimed, Surinder Singh admitted turning hostile in the Nanavati Commission hearings because he was under pressure.

"Surinder says the Delhi police had lodged an FIR No 316 of 1984 at the Bara Hindu Rao Police station with regard to killings outside the Pulbangash Gurudwara. But he was never called as a witness. The only case that the police registered was that of looting of his household goods worth Rs 21500,"the report said.

The report adds a fresh twist to the case, coming barely a few days after a local court in Delhi ordered reinvestigation of the anti-sikh riots case against the former Union Minister.

It also ordered the questioning of Jasbir Singh, who allegedly heard Tytler inciting the mob to kill. According to the CBI, which is investigating the case, Jasbir Singh, presently residing in the US, has been evading questioning.
