MUKESH AMBANI BUYS RUGBY HOTEL
Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani has purchased Rugby Hotel, one of the landmark hotels in Matheran, a tourist destination near Mumbai, for an undisclosed amount. The Rugby had been shut for the past two years. The Rugby property, which is spread over 16 acre will be used as an activity centre for students of the Dhirubhai Ambani School in Mumbai. The school has been organising various educational programs for its children in Matheran, Reliance officials said. The Rugby hotel is one of Matheran's oldest hotels. The property has colonial architecture and an old-world charm. Apart from landscaped lawns, the hotel has over 50 rooms, a swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, horseriding facilities and a jogging track.
