SOHRABUDDIN REMARKS: SUPREME COURT ISSUES NOTICES TO MODI
The Supreme Court has issued notices to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on two applications seeking his prosecution in the Sohrabuddin encounter case for his remarks made at an election rally at Surat last week.
A bench comprising Justice Tarun Chatterjee and Justice Dalveer Bhandari issued notices after hearing counsel for the applicant, who contended that it was a serious matter and an executive head of a state cannot take a stand publically in contradiction to what his government had stated in the Supreme Court in affidavit.
