DELHI HIGH COURT RESTRAINS ZEE AND ETC FROM SHOWING ANIMATED RAMAYANA
The Delhi High Court has restrained Zee TV and ETC from showing an animated film titled Ramayana and its promos on their channels without the permission of Interlude Technology, which claims to be the owner of the film. "I am of the prima facie view that defendants have copied the artistic work of the plaintiff and therefore plaintiff is entitled to the ex-parte interim injunction," Justice B D Ahmed said. The plaintiff, Interlude Technology through its counsel Manjit Singh Ahluwalia, approached the court after it found that Zee TV and ETC are showing promos of the film on their channels. Ahluwalia contended that the animated mythological film had been illegally copied by PEN house, a media entertainment house, which was later sold to the TV channels.
