NHRC EMPLOYEE GETS TWO YEARS IMPRISONMENT UNDER CORRUPTION LAW
A city court sentenced Ramakant Sharma, a retired DSP of Border Security Force(BSF) who was attached to National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), to two years imprisonment.
Additional Sessions Judge A S Yadav found Sharma guilty under section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1980, for offering bribe to a public servant in 2001.
The accused had offered a bribe of Rs 2000 to R C Saxena, security officer with SPG Cabinet Secretariat for the release of payments for a private company.
Sharma was also handling the marketing of a private company who used to supply metal detectors to the security agencies.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the accused.
