ICL CHALLENGES BCCI RULES IN DELHI HC

The legal battle between the Essel Group-promoted ICL and the official cricket board BCCI has got more intense, with the former challenging in the Delhi High Court the specific BCCI rules which prevent its players from participating in tournaments not organised by the board. ICL filed the amendment application on high court's direction after BCCI objected that ICL had not explained the specific rules it wanted to challenge. The application challenged the validity of BCCI's Rules and Regulations 34 which says that "no player registered with BCCI or its affiliate members shall participate in any unapproved tournament". The clause also empowers the board to take punitive action against the players for violating the rules.
