TCS BAGS $100-M DEAL FROM NXP

INDIA’s largest IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has won a $100 million fiveyear contract with NXP Semiconductors. The $6.3-billion Netherlands-based company, founded by Philips, is among the top 10 semiconductor companies. Under the deal, TCS will provide application management, development and support services across NXP’s supply chain operations. Through this engagement, TCS will consolidate and ensure the integrity of NXP’s application landscape, enabling the chip maker to focus on its core business activities. TCS’ R&D teams will also develop new applications across all stages of product cycle of NXP.

Shares in the TCS, ended at a gain of Rs 25.10 from the previous close or 2.69% higher at Rs 958.80 in a market that overall lost 1.8%. The deal will be implemented through multiple centers in India, Asia and the US which are part of TCS’ global network delivery model. These centers will be supported by a centre based in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

NXP senior vice-president & CIO Louis Luijten said, “The engagement with TCS reflects NXP’s commitment to optimizing our processes and driving business value from all aspects of our operations.” TCS COO & executive director N Chandrasekaran added, “The engagement with NXP is a demonstration of our business credentials in a specialist sector and enables TCS to develop a deep relationship with NXP, a company founded by Phillips.”

NXP Semiconductors has 37,000 employees in more than 20 countries.
