SC DISMISSES 4G INFORMATICS' PLEA AGAINST LAB CELL
The Supreme Court has dismissed UK-based biometric solutions provider 4G Informatics' plea seeking quashing of a contract awarded by Andhra Pradesh government to Lab Cell Biometric Technologies for deploying a system to check fraudulent ration cards. A bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhan dismissed the petition, saying "in view of the fact that entire supplies have already been made, the special leave petition has become infructous and is disposed off as such." 4G Informatics had alleged Lab Cell was not authorized to use and distribute intellectual property (Iris technology).
