NATCO PHARMA OPPOSES PATENT FILED BY TEVA PHARMACEUTICALS IN INDIA
Natco Pharma has opposed a patent filed by Teva Pharmaceuticals in India. The US-based drug maker had objected to Natco manufacturing a generic version of Copaxone. The Indian Patent Office refused to grant Teva the patent application and permitted Natco to supply Glatiramer Acetate, the generic make in India and other countries. “We have long maintained the composition claimed in this request was an obvious variation of compositions in the public domain and the current decision removes a potential obstacle to providing a more affordable version, said Natco CMD V Nannapaneni.
