OFFICIAL AMENDMENTS TO ‘THE RIGHT OF CHILDREN TO FREE AND COMPULSORY EDUCATION BILL, 2008'

The Union Cabinet gave its approval to the proposal of Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development regarding introduction of ‘The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Bill, 2008’ in the Parliament.

'The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Bill, 2008’ was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on 15th December, 2008. The Chairman, Rajya Sabha had referred the said Bill to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on HRD for examination and report.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on HRD has presented its report which was table on the Rajya Sabha on 18th February, 2009.

Keeping in view the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for amendments to the Bill, the proposal regarding official amendments on ‘The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Bill, 2008’ has been approved by the Union Cabinet.
