AMENDMENTS PROPOSED TO FOOD ADULTERATION RULES
The Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of Health has issued a draft notification proposing amendment to standards of olive oil under Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules, 1955. This notification has been published in Part II, section 3, sub-section (i) of the Gazette of India (Extraordinary) vide GSR No. 726(E) dated 20.11.2007.
By this amendment, the standards of olive oil are being amended to harmonize them with those of Codex.
A time period of sixty days have been given for sending objections/suggestions. The notification is available on the website of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare i.e. http://www.mohfw.nic.in/pfa.htm.
Objections/suggestions, if any on the draft rules, may be sent to the Secretary, Department of Health, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi within the stipulated period.
