ZENOTECH FILES SEVEN ABBREVIATED NEW DRUG APPLICATIONS (ANDA) IN US FOR GENERIC INJECTABLES

RANBAXY-promoted Zenotech has filed for seven abbreviated new drug application(ANDA) in the US for generic injectables. The market size for these products, currently catered by the innovator drug firms, is estimated at over $2 billion. In addition Hyderabad-based Zenotech is also in the process of filing 10 more ANDAs, five each in the areas of generic injectables and oncology products in 2008. When contacted Zenotech, managing director, Jayaram Chigurupati, said, "We expect to launch the products for the general injectables for which the ANDAs have been just filed by end of 2008 or by early 2009. Though there will be price erosion we expect to generate significant revenues from these launches." It takes anywhere between 1-2 year for companies to get marketing approval after an application for ANDA is filed.
